Chris Stapleton writes “Maggie’s Song” about a dog that became his after he had rescued her, and the story and emotion around her passing. His dog, Maggie, would watch over his children through their childhood and was a beloved part of his household. I find that this song perfectly illustrates the emotion that one feels when losing a dog. This song now memorializes Maggie’s legacy as a member of the Stapleton family.
