Resources for Loss

"Arcade" by Duncan Laurence, contributed by Merhawi Ghebrelul (2025)

After searching for songs for quite some time, aiming to pick the perfect song, the song that I myself would listen to in the tragic event that one of my loved ones passed, I settled on a song that I experienced through the grief of a friend. A high-school classmate of mine, who lost his father to cancer, unfortunately caught wind of this horrible event while still in school. On his way driving out of the parking lot, I couldn’t help but hear his speakers blasting this song, “Arcade” by Duncan Laurence:

Verse 1: Duncan Laurence]
A broken heart is all that's left
I’m still fixing all the cracks
Lost a couple of pieces when
I carried it, carried it, carried it home
I’m afraid of all I am
My mind feels like a foreign land
Silence ringing inside my head
Please, carry me, carry me, carry me home

[Pre-Chorus: Duncan Laurence]
I’ve spent all of the love I saved
We were always a losing game
Small-town boy in a big arcade
I got addicted to a losing game

[Chorus: Duncan Laurence]
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game

[Verse 2: FLETCHER]
Do you love me, or love me not?
Peeling piecеs from my heart
And my rose-colored lеns is gone
Still I carry, I carry, I carry on

[Chorus: Duncan Laurence & FLETCHER]
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game

[Bridge: Duncan Laurence & FLETCHER]
I don’t need your games, game over
Get me off this rollercoaster

[Chorus: Duncan Laurence & FLETCHER]
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
