Excerpt from the annual report of the Feodosiia city overseer

The Russian merchant ship Archangel Michael, which belongs to an Odessa merchant named Papudovo, commanded by Mariano Berliani, took on cargo in Odessa consisting of weapons, cannon, and other artillery. It sailed from Odessa bound for the fortress of Izmail with twelve sailors, one artillery officer, and three others, on November 17. When the ship was close to Evpatoriia, a storm hit and the ship was smashed on the shore. All but two souls were saved.
