Wreck of the Paolo Bava

8 December 1828
Excerpt from the annual report of the Feodosiia city overseer

A double-masted ship from Sardinia, the Paolo Bava, equipped with ten sailors and one armed guard, set sail for Evpatoriia from Kefe (Feodosiia) laden with cargo. A storm soon threw them off course. After three days, the ship was within sight of the Akmechet wharf, which lies between Evpatoriia and Perekop. That is where it sunk, dashed against the rocks just three sazhens from shore. The skipper, sailors, and guard were saved.
