Harvard Scalar Guide

Adding authors to Scalar sites

Adding single users (Scalar default)

The process for adding people to a Scalar site is documented here: Scalar User's Guide: Users Tab. Only existing Scalar accounts can be added to a site, so if you are adding a collaborator, they must have already created an account in the Harvard Scalar instance.

In addition, you will need to search for collaborators by their full name within Scalar, which may have been pulled in by Harvard Key. The full name associated with a Scalar account is always displayed in the top right corner of the Scalar Dashboard, so if you have trouble finding a collaborator, you can have them check the full name on their account on that page. If you have persistent issues finding a collaborator to add to a Scalar book, you can contact atg@fas.harvard.edu.

Adding many users for a class or project (Harvard add-on)

If you need to add a large number of people to a Scalar site at once, as in the case of adding students to a course Scalar site, you can contact FAS Academic Technology at atg@fas.harvard.edu. We can add students or collaborators to Scalar sites in bulk using a spreadsheet containing the HUIDs or university emails of students in the course. People added in this way don't need to have existing Scalar accounts; the process of adding them will create accounts for them.
