The Imperiia Project: a spatial history of the Russian Empire

Nieszawa

This station is 9 miles from Alexandrovo and 2 2/3 miles south of the town.

The town is small (5,000 inhabitants), with a Catholic church roughly 500 years old and a Protestant church just over 20 years old.

The Handbook contains all sorts of tidbits. Page 3 says that the country from here to Warsaw "is dotted with miserable-looking villages and is largely populated by Jews." Are those two comments meant to go together? I wonder.
