Students in Service and Leadership at Harvard

Story of Self

North is a senior living in Adams house concentrating in economics and sociology. On campus, North is a member of the Harvard football team, where he played defensive line. North recently finished his senior season and is deciding between playing a fifth year at a different university, or entering the work force. Besides football, North used to be involved in various groups across campus, including HABVA where he served as head of alumni relations during his sophomore year.

Getting to Harvard was a windy road. North attended public school up until his second freshman year where he repeated and went to Choate Rosemary Hall to play football and attend school. After four years at Chaote, he ultimately decided to commit to Harvard to play football and attend school. During his time in highschool, he played football, wrestling, and track. After junior year, North ulitmately decided to pursue football alone, and ended up competing on only the football time, while lifting weights and working out during the other two semesters.

Going into freshman year, he had no clue what to study, what interested him, or what he may want to pursue outside of the football field. So, as most freshman do, he over extended himself, joining various different clubs and activities around campus. After struggling for awhile and moving down to Tampa with a teammate over COVID, he ended up needing a job and landed one within finance. This was a key experience for him, as he realized he had an interest in finance, so he decided to pursue this field, and ultimately spent his next two summers interning within the field of finance. This was the first time North has lived alone while working a job, so this was a new experience for him, in which he greatly valued.

Four years later, North is about to graduate Harvard, having finished his time on the Football team gaining many valuable memories and life lessons along the way. Currently, North is deciding whether to join the workforce and return full time to the place he worked the previous summer, or complete his last remaining year of football while he has one year of eligibility remaining.
