Individual Presentation (30% of Overall Grade)
Students will select an artist/activist/author, conduct individual research on their background and repertoire, and prepare a short presentation to be given live during a Friday class during the semester. Presentations must be accompanied by an outline of major points covered in the presentation and 2-3 questions for class discussion, which must be shared with the class prior to the presentation. In your presentation, you will discuss the features listed below:
- The activist’s/artivist’s/author’s approach to a particular social, political, economic or cultural cause. What cause(s) does this particular activist fight for?
- The activist’s mode of expression: What form of expression does this particular activist use in order to raise awareness or act in favor of a particular cause?
- The activist’s mode of expression: How does this particular activist use a unique stylistic or rhetorical mode of expression to create a particular effect on the audience?
