As an undergraduate, Sonya examined the intersection of the humanities and medicine and studied abroad in Moscow. She participated in the 2021 Undergraduate REES Think Tank fellowship program, where she researched the effects of the politicization of state medicine on the adoption of folk medicine in the Soviet Union. Sonya is interested in investigating cross-cultural approaches to medicine, the societal factors influencing health, and the evolution of the healthcare system in the region.
