The Imperiia Project: a spatial history of the Russian Empire

Fedor Afanasievich Polunin

Born: 1735 (or 1736 - we aren't quite sure)
Died: 1782 (or 1783 - we aren't quite sure)

Occupation: writer, translator, geographer, government official

Polunin served as voevod of Vereia (a town near Moscow) and held the rank of collegiate assessor. He is famous – to the extent that he is, actually famous (which I rather don’t think he is) – for compiling the Geographical Lexicon of the Russian State.
