On his way from Khotin to Jassy he passes through the village of Botosani, where plague killed 800 of 2,000 inhabitants (40%) and a third of the Russian garrison.
At Jassy, Orraeus finds half the population dead or sick and immediately undertakes construction of medical facilities and segregation of the population.
