Who needs a map when you have a concept graph?
A Word or Two About the Graph
We broke each text in the corpus into sentence-length pieces. These are, for the purposes of this project, the increments of analysis. Wherever we could, we associated increments with concept tags. By playing with this visualization you can identify patterns across the texts that are otherwise very difficult to observe.
How to Use the Graph
- Hover your cursor in the upper right of the viz. The "tools" and "full screen" buttons appear. Toggle either one according to your preference.- Zoom in/out using the zoom tool or your mouse.
- Hover over a concept node to reveal its content.
- Select/drag a concept node to pull it away from the cluster.
- Select an increment node to reveal the text it represents. A window will open on the right allowing you to explore authorship as well as the full context of the "canvas" (aka, source text).
- Or, select a concept from the color legend on the right. This will eliminate that concept and its associated nodes from the visualization. Click again on the concept to restore.
- Want to really have fun? Use the time slider at the bottom to see the accumulation of texts as they were composed!
Don't worry, you can't break anything. Refresh your screen to start over.
