The benefits of Project Based Learning: How learning is more than remembering facts

Learning is changing the brain

Learning is a personal experience. It's not that, yet, we can direct a beam of light towards student's foreheads to change their inner neural structures to make them remember when Alexander Fleming was born. It's more of a personal change, of how the student is making a new idea part of her reality, connecting it to every atom of knowledge already present in her mind that's already helping her decipher the world around.

Learning is changing the brain's structure, a little at a time.

For example, many people from Chile remember this day with exquisite detail. But probably only a few could say quickly what they had for lunch two weeks ago on Thursday.

Emotions as anchors

Every time we feel something strongly, we are storing a stronger memory related to it.
