His research focused on the People’s Republic of China and in 2017 he studied in Beijing at Tsinghua University. From 2018 to 2021, Charles served as a congressional staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives. During his time there, Charles worked on issues relating to China and Russia, including bills such as the Hong Kong People's Freedom and Choice Act of 2020. Following the events of Jan. 6, 2021, Charles began his studies in international relations. He is interested in researching the effects of corruption on the power dynamics of post-Soviet states.
