Students in Service and Leadership at Harvard

Story of Self

The Story of Self

From the very start of my time at Harvard, I have always been heavily involved in the undergraduate arts community. In addition to studying to History of Art and Architecture, I have found a vibrant, diverse, and energetic community in the undergraduate arts extracurricular ecosystem. During my first year at Harvard, I became involved in the Harvard Crimson's Arts Board, Harvard Undergraduate Student Art Collective, Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatics Club, and the Harvard Art Museums. Across these organizations and their respective collaborations, I began to understand the student arts involvement ecosystem and identify its gaps and needs.

During the 2020-2021 school year, I co-founded and ran Harvard Undergraduate Art History Society, which provided a space for students of all backgrounds to engage with art history, visit art museums, and critically discuss contemporary art issues. Over the past two years, I have taken on leadership roles in other arts organizations, and found that while the community is largely composed of friends and colleagues, the Harvard student arts involvement ecosystem is fairly disparate and disconnected on an organizational level. My SOCIOL1130 research project seeks to assess the current state of the student arts organization ecosystem at Harvard and tailor recommendations to foster collaboration, communication, and cohesion.
