How Can Steering Committee Be Improved? Questions to Research

What's the Issue? Because Steering Committee is typically a one-year position, there is very high turnover rate in leadership (aside from our Director, who has held the position for about 9 years). Because of this fact, it can be very hard to create consistency and "institutional memory" from year to year and from Steering Committee to Steering Committee. There really isn't a set protocol for how a Steering Committee should be turned over, and there seems to be general feelings of uneasiness and a lack of knowledge/preparation when entering the position because of such an abrupt transition.

Questions to Research and Answer:

- How can an organization (i.e FOP) create consistency and effective transition in an organization that has inherently high leadership turnover rates?
-How effective are FOP's current frameworks for turning over leadership?
