HFAC Story of Us
Students are introduced to finance through HFAC Comp – a enriching, semester-long education program which introduces students to the world of financial analysis through lectures, exercises and a Stock Pitch competition. After completion of comp, students can help manage HFAC’s open-ended investment fund which is a $40K equity portfolio aimed at investing in misunderstood, quality businesses.
The Investment Research and Senior Investment Research groups make up our Asset Management group which manages our portfolio. Investment Research continues education begun in the Comp to teach students more rigorous financial modelling. Senior Investment Research consists of a small group of 7-8 students led by one of eight SIR directors; SIR groups analyze specific stocks and make investment recommendations to the organization.
Our Quant Group serves as an educational platform to introduce students to the field of quantitative finance through lectures, discussion and active research projects (including an algorithmic betting project!).
Although we are a large organization (with a 22-person board), I am proud that our board and organization is focused around the mission of making a career in finance accessible and educational.
