Students in Service and Leadership at Harvard

Emily Lou

The Crimson has been the main source of information for members of the Harvard community, especially now during the coronavirus pandemic. The news pieces around Harvard’s policies and decisions have been steadily and consistently posted by our news staff — and this is the main external understanding of The Crimson for the past couple of weeks. Yet, from the business side, The Crimson’s short term future doesn’t have a strong forecast. A significant foundation for our revenue is built upon being on campus: although we do generate revenue from online advertising, much of it is contingent upon our on-campus newsracks and in-person events. As a result, much of the narrative on the Business Board has been surrounding short term revenue initiatives - while keeping our staff members engaged enough to continue working on projects despite not having the team cohesion of being on campus.
