It is a prayer that reminds Muslims that they are not alone in this world, and that they should not let up faith in their God. I was introduced to this prayer when I was young, as many Muslims are. This prayer can be used during times of stress, anxiety, loss, and loneliness. It was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) when he did not receive revelation for six months, which sent him into a depression. When he finally received it, he was uplifted and motivated, just like I am whenever I recite it.
